Everyone is feeling the pinch from the high cost of gas these days. In some areas it's not uncommon to pay $4 for one gallon. With these kinds of prices many consumers are looking for better ways to get where they need to be without spending a fortune. Sometimes the right thing to do is consider a gas saving car. If you need a new (or pre-owned) vehicle to replace your old one anyway, why not take a look at some of the fuel efficient vehicles on the market today. There are lots of appealing and economical choices.
The gold standard when it comes to a fuel efficient vehicle is the Toyota Prius. This car is favored by everyone from soccer moms to celebrities. The Prius is a hybrid, which means it runs on gas and electricity. Hybrid cars automatically get better mileage because of this feature. On average, a Prius driver will get at least twice as much mileage as a driver with a non-hybrid car. The estimated mileage for a Prius is 60 MPG city and 51 MPG on the highway, although your mileage may vary depending on various conditions.
Another hybrid you may want to consider is the Toyota Camry hybrid. City mileage clocks in at around 47 mpg while highway clocks in at about 37 highway. This isn't quite as impressive as the Prius but still very good. One thing you might prefer about the Camry hybrid is its attractive exterior and interior. It is, in most drivers' opinions, a more attractive automobile than the Prius. This car doesn't necessarily look like a hybrid, but rather an everyday average family car. It's just one of the many gas conserving cars on the market today.
If you are looking for a gas saving car you don't even have to go hybrid. There are some non-hybrid cars that get pretty good gas mileage. For example the Nissan Sentra is a midsize family car that gets around 28 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway according to EPA reports. As you can see, there are plenty of options when it comes to making the most of your mileage. You may also want to employ some other conservative strategies for saving gas along with driving a vehicle that offers good mileage.
